Once Spaniards tried to settle this wild frontier. Today ruminants of these early settlers remain in scattered mining ruins. Go deep enough off trail and you might spot petroglyphs from those who preceded them. High above Agua Caliente Canyon is a modern radio facility otherwise, this wilderness remains mostly as they saw it hundreds of years ago. Today I’m going to take you into this vast canyon in the Santa Rita Mountains of Arizona.
This is a pre-screening of our video in Agua Caliente Canyon. Watch the video and let me know what you think of it.
NOTICE: these videos are meant to be experienced from your cozy recliner in front of your big screen TV. I am going to show you how to chrome cast this video so you can watch it in the comfort of your living room. Click this link HERE for instruction to play this on your TV.
Production Notes
I spent four months shooting these clips with six different cameras. Over a year of full time study went into learning how to color grade for this. Color Grading is the process of correcting, matching, and enhancing the color of videos. This production has been optimized for a modern Theater TV supporting High Dynamic Range (HDR).
Special thanks to John and Will for assisting with the project!
Below are a few of our snapshots from Agua Caliente Canyon

Cavern and Hot Springs
A few know this canyon for it’s hot springs. Beneath the ground is a river of hot water flowing down to the west where it emerges from the ground in a hot springs. These same geologic forces that heat the water also heat a cavern under the south ridge of the canyon. There temperatures can exceed 100F making it one of the hottest caves in North America.
The cavern and springs were easily accessible until the state sold the land to one of the Microsoft founders. Some say it’s Bill Gates himself. Whomever it is, they’ve posted no trespassing and have a formidable security contingent with armed guards. Looks like we’re not going to explore the cave anytime soon.
If you are here then you have an open invitation to partake in our adventures
This page currently is only accessible via the link I gave you. Should your interests extend beyond watching our videos then you are in luck. We’d love to have you along on an adventure. You are welcome to contact me any time. You should have my card with the link on it. That also includes my contact info. Below is a form you can fill out to let me know what events we should do next.
Video Premier / Release Events
Once the video is released we host a premier event for friends to view the final product as it’s meant to be seen. I’d like to eventually host the premier at a movie theater but for now our crowd is fairly small.
For the last few Premiers we had snacks and horderves at my residence where I have a 85″ HDR Theater TV. I also have a 2500 Watt sound system which is especially fun when Will can assist with sound design. Will is a professional sound designer who travels the world to setup rock concerts and produce music. His work has over a billion views on YouTube. He is also featured in this video.
Photography
If I’m not at home, chances are I’m in the mountains either exploring or playing with cameras. Many evenings I take my outdoor kitchen and enter the wilderness. There I enjoy some cowboy cooking and photography.
I’d love to invite you should you be a fellow shutter bug!
Overland Adventures
Certainly you are familiar with overland adventures. If not then, these are road trips where the roads lead to spectacular places in the wilderness. We’re blessed to live next door to the wilderness in Arizona. Many adventures are for a day, some longer. They require a capable vehicle such as a truck, jeep, or modified SUV. Everything necessary for a self sufficient adventure is carried in the vehicle including a cowboy kitchen for gourmet food.
Wilderness Hikes
People who watch my videos think they have to cut trail to go with us. That’s not always the case, much of the time I’m walking old mountain roads. Sometimes I also follow established trails. I know of a few where the views will change your life in a few short steps.
We go at your speed. Should you like a high paced bushwhack with a challenging peak bag, I can do that too. For the past two years I’ve been studying freeclimbing under the auspice of a world class climber to expand my mountaineering skillset so hopefully I can keep up.
You set the pace. Whatever you’re up for, lets give it a go.
Outfitting
My friend and I are also putting together an outfitting business to take people into the remote wilderness. These trips would be turn key, for a reasonable fee we take you to a world class destination. You get a gourmet meal, ride in a comfortable vehicle (all be it on some rough roads) and see the world as God created it.
For those bold enough to go beyond the trails and roads, we can guide you up remote peaks, to old mine ruins, and geological wonders.
